Nearly a half-century of growth and innovation

1960 : Walter Bélanger established Béton Provincial. At that time, the Matane company offered ready-mixed concrete, concrete pipe and masonry products.

Béton Provincial rapidly built and acquired plants on the Gaspé Peninsula, on the North Shore, in the Lower St. Lawrence region and in New Brunswick.

1973 :

Béton Provincial obtained a major contract to provide concrete for Hydro-Québec’s Outardes-2 hydroelectric power plant. The project required 260,000 cubic metres of concrete and marked a turning point in the company’s expansion.


At the end of the 1970s, Béton Provincial began a new phase in its development by acquiring several ready-mixed concrete plants in Québec’s Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean region and in New Brunswick. During this period, The company also acquired two plants producing pipe and various other concrete products and it entered the paving market.

Since 1990:

Béton Provincial has expanded and has set up operations in Trois-Rivières, Drummondville, Saint-Hyacinthe, Sorel, Québec and in the Montréal region.


During this period, the company also set up its own terminal in the Port de Québec for the importation of cement powder. At the same time, Béton Provincial began operating a mixing station equipped with world-class technology that can produce made-to-order cements.


Today, Béton Provincial has over 70 ready-mixed concrete plants, 10 paving plants, 3 precast concrete megaplants and several portable computerized concrete plants, as well as a large number of quarries, gravel pits and sand pits. The company also has an impressive fleet of over 350 concrete mixers as well as conventional road transport equipment.
